Get hands-on and create clay planters for your home! Kaila will teach you clay handbuilding techniques that will open up the wonderful world of ceramics to you. Over 3 hours, you’ll be pinching, slab forming and coiling clay to make 2 ceramic planters of your own. Once your creations are finished, you’ll be decorating and glazing, as well as learning what plant is right for your new pot. Student pieces are then bisqued, clear glazed and fired and returned in 3 weeks.

What you’ll get:

  • 2 ceramic planters made by you, and fired by Kaila after class

  • A relaxing few hours of making!

What you’ll learn:

  • Clay handbuilding skills such as slab forming, pinching and coiling

  • Which plants to choose for your pots

Get creative and meditative! Learn clay handbuilding skills while creating your own incense holders and incense sticks. In this 3 hour class Kaila will teach you clay handbuilding techniques that will open up the wonderful world of ceramics to you. You’ll be making incense balls, bowls and dishes. Then, you will make your own incense sticks to use in your new handmade holders. Each student will make 12 sticks of incense, choosing from a variety of fragrances. Student pieces are bisqued, clear glazed and fired after class and returned back in 3-4 weeks.

What you’ll get:

  • Ceramic incense holders made by you, and fired by Kaila after class

  • 12 incense sticks with a burning time of 50-60 minutes per stick

  • A relaxing few hours of making!

What you’ll learn:

  • Clay handbuilding skills such as slab forming, pinching and joining. These are the starter skills to working with clay, and will enable you to make bowls, cups, planters and dishes at home with minimal equipment required

  • How to make your own incense sticks

Create with nature! Learn clay handbuilding skills while creating your own small dishes, pressed with flowers. In this 2 hours class Kaila will teach you clay handbuilding techniques that will open up the wonderful world of ceramics to you. You’ll be making an array of small dishes and bowls that can be used as jewellery holders, salt dishes, home decoration and more! Then you’ll be learning how to press flowers and plants into your clay pieces. You can choose to leave the flowers in the clay, as they will fire off in the kiln, or remove them and glaze your piece. Student pieces are bisqued, clear glazed and fired after class and returned back in 3-4 weeks.

What you’ll get:

  • Ceramic dishes made by you, and fired by Kaila after class

  • A selection of flowers to press into your clay

  • A relaxing few hours of making!

What you’ll learn:

  • Clay handbuilding skills such as slab forming, pinching and joining. These are the starter skills to working with clay, and will enable you to make bowls, cups, planters and dishes at home with minimal equipment required

About your teacher, Kaila!

Kaila Perusco is a born maker. Having worked on craft projects & workshops for the likes of Frankie, City of Sydney and Splendour in the Grass, Kaila turned her attention to clay and never looked back. Since getting her diploma of ceramics, Kaila has been teaching clay handbuilding classes for over 4 years. She is passionate about finding the creative that lurks in everyone.
